It's a Brunch thing.

On Friday my girlfriend Sarah and I went out for brunch at Wilf and Ada's probably one of the best spots to eat breakfast or lunch in the city! Locally sourced ingredient and suppliers.

I had the Hungryman breakfast which included 2 eggs (sunny side up), homies (home fries), beans, toast (only one slice, wish it was two) and french toast with a fruit compote, whipped creame and maple syrup. The Hungryman also came with a choice of two sides, I chose the Perth pork bacon and their seed to sausage sausages! I ate all of it, it was spectacular. Also had an amazing cup of Happy Goat coffee!

Sarah had the BLT...E and homies, great bread, a thick slice of tomatoe, mixed greens, Perth pork bacon and of course an egg. She tried her best but it the BLT...E defeated her.

When the battery dies.

Typically I'm pretty good at making sure my camera batteries are fully charged and I have an extra. Well it finally happened I left the house with a partially dead battery and it died about 20 min into taking pictures.

That being said I had to work with what I had. I shot A lot of photos with my Google Pixel 2 xl. It was great to shoot with and a breeze. Shooting with the Pixel 2 XL lacks the bulk of a DSLR but still packs a punch of a high-end camera.

A lot of you know that I used to be an iPhone user and little over a month ago the iPhone 8 and iOS, in general, frustrated me. iOS gave me numerous headaches with duplicate photos and documents and crashing. So a lot of apps that gave me issues I replaced with Google apps, like Google calendar, google assistant (for my Google home) Google keyboard. Needless to say, a lot of iOS apps were replaced with Google ones.

So one day I'm filming my vlog with my iPhone 8 and I recorded about 15 min of a talk and I go check the phone and it stopped about 7 min to tell me I had 15gb of storage left... I wanted to toss the phone so far across the room.

So I decided that was the last straw and I spent over $500 breaking my contract to get the Google Pixel 2 XL. A month later and it was so worth it.

So let's get back to the main reason for this blog post, the Pixel 2 camera.

Instead of getting techy I'll show you what the Pixel 2 XL can do!

Portrait mode handles a lot of different subjects it still can miss some edges, the far right tulip edge is weirdly smudged.

For Nan.

As I sit in the hospital and listen to my Nan's breathing weakening. My Nan is a tough cookie and has always been a strong beacon in our family.

I think about the times my Nan inspired me, she always had stories of Newfoundland, one of the greatest sources or inspiration is her memory. My Nan's memory was the greatest thing, she could remember a story at the drop of a hat! From her brothers causing trouble to my own mom and uncle's causing trouble.

She has been a beacon in our family, keep us to together keeping us strong. In this time it's hard to see her like this, but she would be here for any one of us if we where in the position that she's in now.

Shes always been a fan of my photography. I was able to find some peace during this difficult time through photography. These images I'm sharing are personal but still something I wanted to share but not through Instagram.

my Nan gave me something that will live with me for the rest of my life. She gave me Newfoundland, her home she told stories and described a land of beauty and wonder. Her description of the "rock' was all that was needed to fill my curiosity. In 2008 I made my first trip there and it touched my soul like nothing else had. That island awoke something inside of me. I went in 2011, 2014, 2016 and I think I'll go back this year.

I'd like to go back and visit my best friend Marc and his wife Jill who have been the main reasons why I go back. Another reason is to visit family and connect and share stories of Nan. I'd like to try and remember her in a place that she came from to connect with her spiritually.

I'm going to miss her so much, but her memory won't fade, it will live on in her husband in her children and her grandchildren. Nan you are special your are appreciated and most of all you are loved.
